Curriculum Vitae
Eleni Kontopoulou is a postdoctoral researcher at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Department of Sociology). She studied Law at the Democritus University of Thrace and obtained her Master’s Degree in Criminology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (School of Law). She holds a PhD in Criminology from the Department of Sociology of Panteion University. Her post- doctoral research, under the scientific supervision of the Professor Christina Zarafonitou, focuses on the empirical investigation of the relationship between the offending persistence of juveniles and the characteristics of their environment.
She has taught forensics at the National Police Academy – Officers’ School (2016-2021) and the Hellenic Fire Academy (2018-2020). She also teaches as a “grant-holder” for the sixth year running the course “Criminal Investigation and Human Rights” and for the fourth year running the course “Criminal Policy” at the Department of Sociology of Panteion University.
She has participated in academic lectures, criminological conferences and research projects and her scientific interests are: juvenile delinquency, criminal careers, recidivism, criminal policy, environmental Criminology, urban security and forensics.
She is a member of the Athens Bar Association since 2006, the Laboratory of Urban Criminology, and the Local Council for Crime Prevention of Piraeus Municipality. She is also a member of the editorial team of the on-line scientific journal “Urban Crime-An International Journal” of the Laboratory of Urban Criminology of Panteion University (Editor - in Chief Prof. Ch. Zarafonitou).
