THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE MA OF CRIMINOLOGY THROUGH THE VOICE OF THE POSTGRADUATES AND THE TEACHING STAFF & PRSENTATION OF THE DISTINGUISHED THESES OF 2012-2022

The conference of the MA of Criminology, of the Department of Sociology of Panteion University “The accomplishments of the MA of Criminology through the voice of the postgraduates and the teaching staff & presentation of the distinguished theses of 2021-2022” that was held on Friday the 20th of May 2022, in the events hall of Panteion University, was completed with great success.

The conference of the MA of Criminology, of the Department of Sociology of Panteion University “The accomplishments of the MA of Criminology through the voice of the postgraduates and the teaching staff & presentation of the distinguished theses of 2021-2022” that was held on Friday the 20th of May 2022, in the events hall of Panteion University, was completed with great success. A total of 120 graduates and postgraduates have attended the conference. Welcome addresses were delivered by Professor Christina Koulouri, the Rector of Panteion University, Professor Andreas Lytras, the President of the Department of Sociology and Emeritus Professor Iakovos Farsedakis, the founder of the MA “The Contemporary Criminality and its Confrontation”. The opening speech was delivered by Professor Christina Zarafonitou, the Director of the MA of Criminology, including the presentation of the organization and the goals of the MA, as well as the activities undertaken, focusing in the last ten years. Following, the Alumni of the MA of Criminology “Konstantinos Gardikas” has presented, the research “The profession of criminologist today: Second part of the research program” as well as the association. In the following three sections: “Aspects of the crime phenomenon and methods of study”, Coordination Adjunct Professor Vasiliki Vlachou, “Prison and social reintegration”, Coordination Professor Georgios Nikolopoulos, “New technologies, Media and internationalization of the crime phenomenon”, Coordination Professor Athozoi Chaidou, the distinguished theses were presented. The conference closed with the round table “Conclusions, proposals, and prospects’, with the participation of the teaching staff of the MA of Criminology Director of Research Dr Ioanna Tsigkanou, Adjunct Professor Vasiliki Vlachou, Professor Georgios Nikolopoulos, Professor Athozoi Chaidou and the Director of the MA of Criminology, Professor Christina Zarafonitou. The round table was coordinated by Professor Grigoris Lazos. All the participants highlighted the exceptional work delivered by the MA of Criminology of Panteion University and their willingness to continue the actions of the MA in favor of the science and all the new scientists.
